"a machine for living"
Minimalism in the rural context. This design snubs the pretence of a sprawling country manor, in favour of 'less is more' approach. This modest family dwelling is broken down to the bare necessities encouraging a 'machine for living' arrangement of spaces. The environment stands for itself, and the inhabitants are invited to be part of this context when in the public domains of the house.
Internally, once you go past the dividing spine wall, the private spaces become hunkered and are more inwardly looking, exploring materiality and proportion but with intentionally placed windows and vistas to encourage journey and exploration.
